❓Not sure which to choose? No worries — we’re here to help.
If you’re working close to power poles or overhead lines, or digging near cables or pipes, you’ll likely need a Close Approach Consent.
This helps us make sure the area you are working in is safe before you start.
If the assets nearby are marked as ‘strategic’ on your beforeUdig plans, you’ll need a Standover — you will need to apply on our web site at least 5 working days before work starts for one of our field crew to come to site to guide and advise while you work.
🛠️ Even if assets are not marked strategic, a Standover may still be needed in some cases — like if the work is complex, the ground is unstable, or if underground assets are not positively located and exposed before work begins. When in doubt, check your plans and get in touch.
Still unsure? Give us a call 0800 769 372 — we’re happy to point you in the right direction.
